Let’s face it, we’ve all experienced it before, leaving your cell phone on a wet countertop, spilling a drink on it, dropping your phone in the pool, or better yet the toilet (you’d be surprised how often it happens). Inevitably, lots of cell phones suffer accidental water damage, and for those of you that don’t already know, cell phone water damage requires immediate attention! If you wait too long, the damage may be too severe to be repaired.

Cell phone water damage of any kind can be extremely destructive to your phone. Why is water damage so serious? Water contact of any kind can be detrimental to your phone, as it can short circuit or erode your phone's electronic components and interior functions. Believe it or not you are better off dropping your phone in the toilet then in the pool, hot tub or ocean. The reason why is due to corrosive chemicals that can vastly harm your cell phone.

If your phone does get wet the best thing to do is get it to us as soon as possible. If you cannot get it to us right away then follow these steps until you can.

WARNING! DO NOT turn on the phone or try to charge it after it has gotten wet.

1. Remove the battery (if you can).

2. Leave battery door off and place the phone next to a source of cool forced air such as on top of an air vent or in front of a fan for at least 24 hours or more. DO NOT use warm air as this will cause condensation (more moisture).

3. Place the phone on its back and/or standing up to let the liquid drain as much as possible.
